This is one of my favorite exercises for love handles, but it requires a bit of equipment which means it’s best done at home. Lie flat on your back with your arms stretched out toward the ceiling. Exhale as you lift your legs off the ground and bend them to bring your left knee toward your right armpit, then inhale as you extend them back out. Exhale as you curl up and twist your torso so that your right elbow is touching the inside of your left knee.

Russian Twists

Russian Twists

This workout is for your abs, but it also targets love handles very effectively. Exhale as you lean back and rest your weight on your tailbone while extending both arms out in front of you. Exhale and twist to the right as you reach across the left side of the mat, then inhale and twist to the left while reaching across the right side of your body. Exhale as you twist back to the center, then inhale as you repeat five times.

This exercise has many variations, but the most effective one for targeting love handles is low to high with an oblique twist. Exhale as you lean forward and switch your feet so that your left foot is now on the inside of your right knee, with both legs extended. Exhale as you jump up while bringing the upper half of your body down and to the left, then switch your feet so that your right foot is now on the inside of your left knee. Exhale as you jump up while bringing both arms back behind you, then inhale to switch sides and repeat five times.
